Some 200 delegates and more than 70 exhibitors participated in the inaugural Sabah Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition 2012 (SOGCE 2012) which was held for two (2) days at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort Hotel, Kota Kinabalu on 9 – 10 April 2012. Sabah Ports took part in the concurrent exhibition which was opened daily to public from 9am to 5pm. SOGCE 2012 which was organised by IEC-Midas, fits well in the international scene of oil and gas. It aims at providing industry players especially in Sabah with a platform to gather vital information on existing and future development of up-stream and down-stream opportunities available to local players.
The exhibition showcased international exhibitors displaying the latest equipment, technology and solutions to demonstrate competitive advantages and competencies. One of the main areas of focus in the conference is how the oil and gas industry has became a “Sunrise Industry in Sabah”. The recent discovery of new wells offshore Sabah bodes well for the future growth of this industry in the East Malaysian state of Sabah.
