YB Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Dahlan visits Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Bin Dahlan visited Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB) at its Wisma SabahPorts on 15th October 2017. The visit was part of the Minister’s Sepanggar bound itinerary which had included site visits to Sepanggar Tunnel and bridge construction at Mawila as well as SBCP expansion project. The visit was coordinated by Sabah Economic Development & Investment Authority (SEDIA).

During the visit, SEDIA, the Minister was given few briefings on the various projects under Economic Planning Unit (EPU) under his Ministry. Representatives from Public Works Department Sabah and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department made their respective briefings on their current projects in Sepanggar. Suria Capital’s Group Managing Director, Mdm Ng Kiat Min had briefed the Minister on the Group’s development.

The Minister had emphasised his commitment to accelerate economic development in the State and gave assurance that the EPU would give the necessary supports.

The Minister concluded his visit with a press conference before departing to the bridge construction at Mawila, the newly-completed tunnel and Customs new building.

Among those in attendance were Suria Capital’s Chairman, Federal Secretary of Sabah, Deputy Director General of EPU Federal, Kota Kinabalu Mayor, Directors of State Economic Planning Unit and Public Works Department, General Manager Sabah Ports Authority and Vice President of SEDIA.

Sapangar Bay Container Port was announced as the Winner of the Green Port Award System (GPAS) for Year 2019 at the APEC Port Services Network (APSN) Forum held on 24 September 2019 at Cusco, Peru. The award was presented by Ms. Maria Jara Risco, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru and Mr. Tan Cheng Peng, the First Vice-President of the APSN Council, witnessed by Mr. Edgar Patino, the Chairman of the Board of the National Port Authority of Peru and Mr. Fei Weijun, the Secretary- General of APSN to representatives of Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd.

SBCP was recognized for the numerous green initiatives taken such as the installation of electrical Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes, usage of LED lighting and implementation of the
Autostore Terminal Operating System which minimizes paper consumption. The APSN council further noted SBCP’s active engagement in ecological conservation through projects such as seagrass transplanting, mangrove restoration and rehabilitation projects across the port locality.
