Port Operations & Ancillary Services​

Sabah Ports, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Suria Capital Holdings Berhad, officially took over the management of all port operations from Sabah Ports Authority on 1 September 2004. With eight (8) ports strategically located throughout the coasts of Sabah, Sabah Ports focuses mainly on the streamlining of port operations, acquisition of new modern cargo handling equipment, planning and undertaking of new cargo handling facilities as well as manpower development including training in its mission to assure and provide the best services to all port users and Sabah Ports’ customers.

Sabah Ports offers a wide spectrum of professional port services such as berthing, storage facilities, container and general cargo handling facilities as well as provision of labour force to its port users and customers.

A subsidiary of Sabah Ports, S.P. Satria, established in 2003, is in the business of procuring port equipment and spare parts. The operation of S.P. Satria is focused in procuring port equipment and spare parts to five (5) service centres strategically located at all major ports in Sabah, namely Sapangar Bay Container Port, Kota Kinabalu Port, Sandakan Port, Lahad Datu Port and Tawau Port.

Logistics & Bunkering Services

SP Marine Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sabah Ports. SP Marine Services, established on 25 January 2006, is a licensed bunker supplier at all ports of Sabah with PDA 2 from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. Bunkering services are provided to calling vessels at ports or at anchorage for marine fuel oil, diesel and marine lubricants. Apart from bunkering, SP Marine also provides services such as fresh water supply, scheduled waste management and marine household garbage collection as well as provision of logistics support services to ports such as heavy lifting, storage and transportation.

As a licensed shipping agent registered with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, SP Marine Services provides shipping agency and forwarding (direct-user) services to ships that call at all ports of Sabah.
Sapangar Bay Container Port was announced as the Winner of the Green Port Award System (GPAS) for Year 2019 at the APEC Port Services Network (APSN) Forum held on 24 September 2019 at Cusco, Peru. The award was presented by Ms. Maria Jara Risco, the Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru and Mr. Tan Cheng Peng, the First Vice-President of the APSN Council, witnessed by Mr. Edgar Patino, the Chairman of the Board of the National Port Authority of Peru and Mr. Fei Weijun, the Secretary- General of APSN to representatives of Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd.

SBCP was recognized for the numerous green initiatives taken such as the installation of electrical Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes, usage of LED lighting and implementation of the
Autostore Terminal Operating System which minimizes paper consumption. The APSN council further noted SBCP’s active engagement in ecological conservation through projects such as seagrass transplanting, mangrove restoration and rehabilitation projects across the port locality.
