Property Development

Property development has been earmarked as one of the Group’s strategies going forward. In 2013, Suria entered into a joint venture agreement with SBC Corporation Berhad to develop Jesselton Quay and in 2015, another joint venture agreement was entered into with Gabungan AQRS Berhad to develop
One Jesselton Waterfront. Both developments are within the vicinity of Kota Kinabalu Port. The mixed developments will include service suites,  apartments, condo residences, a recreation club, hotels, commercial gallery shoppes, retail mall, car park facilities, a ferry ticketing office and Suria’s corporate headquarters office.

Once completed, both Jesselton Quay and One Jesselton Waterfront projects are expected to complement developments in the vicinity such as Sabah International Convention Centre and Kota Kinabalu Convention City.

It is also the long-term plan of Suria to develop a dedicated international cruise terminal supplemented with related commercial realties to serve as the home port or regular port of call for regional and international cruise liners. An area measuring 28.9 acres at Kota Kinabalu Port land has been earmarked for the international cruise terminal development.

Jesselton Quay

The first phase of development known as Jesselton Quay Central (JQC) which measures 4 acres out of the total 16.25 acres land, had commenced construction in the first quarter of 2017. As at April 2019, progress of the project was on track at 32% with target completion by year 2021. Components of JQC include two towers of 25-storey commercial suites (CityPads), one tower of 25-storey i-hotel, Gallery Shoppes, a tropical-themed recreation club at the podium top and carparks. The hotel component within JWC is expected to complement the developments in the adjacent area, in particular the Sabah International Convention Centre which is due to be completed in the near term.

As for the second and last phase of Jesselton Quay which will be developed on the remaining 12.25 acres land, construction works will commence in 2019 with target completion in year 2023. The components of the second and last phase of Jesselton Quay will include high-end residences, high-end serviced suites and low-rise retail lots.
