With Kota Kinabalu’s panoramic waterfront as the backdrop, Suria has embarked on two landmark property development projects, Jesselton Quay (JQ) and Jesselton Docklands Development.

In 2016, Suria, in partnership with SBC Corporation Berhad, launched the JQ development project. The first phase, JQ Central, was completed in 2022 and features service suites, a vibrant recreation club, and commercial gallery shoppes. As part of the agreement, Suria received 90 units of gallery shoppes. Of these, 29 units have been converted into Suria’s new corporate office, while the remaining units are available for lease, offering prime commercial opportunities.

Phase 2 of the JQ project which consists of a high-rise hospitality tower and a low-rise heritage precinct of commercial shops and open area, had commenced construction by end of year 2024 and is slated for completion in year 2028.

In a further expansion of its property development portfolio, Suria entered into two Joint Venture Agreements in February 2024 with BEDI Development Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of EXSIM Development Sdn. Bhd., for the Jesselton Docklands Development. Spanning 2.534 hectares (Land 1) and 11.69 hectares (Land 2) near the Kota Kinabalu Port area, the development is envisioned as an integrated tourism-focused destination. Land 1 will commence development in 2025 with a six-year project timeline, while Land 2 is expected to begin in 2028 and complete over twelve years.

Together with the Sabah International Convention Centre and Kota Kinabalu Convention City, these developments will form Jesselton Waterfront City—envisioned as Sabah’s premier coastal destination and a vibrant new urban centre for commerce, tourism, and lifestyle

Looking ahead, Suria’s strategic vision also includes the establishment of a dedicated International Cruise Terminal (ICT), further anchoring Kota Kinabalu’s position as a key homeport and destination of call for regional and international cruise liners.
