Transforming Kota Kinabalu City’s Landscape

SURIA CAPITAL LIGHTS UP JESSELTON QUAY CENTRAL

Suria Capital Holding Berhad has taken another leap forward into the property development sector, via their Jesselton Quay initiative (under the Jesselton Waterfront City masterplan) in partnership with SBC Corporation Berhad, with the successful lighting-up ceremony of their first piece of commercial development, Jesselton Quay Central (JQC) on Wednesday, 19th of January 2022.

Held at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), the ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Bin Haji Noor and saw several other ministers in attendance, including but not limited to, Datuk Seri Panglima Hj Masidi Manjun, Local Government & Housing Minister and Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya.

CM Datuk Seri Hajiji said that the mixed development project along the city’s waterfront is expected to give a new look to the city while capitalizing on the sea view and sunsets hence transforming the landscape of the city’s coast, making it an attractive tourist destination. He further added that the State Government’s support of the JQC project proves its commitment in increasing the state’s commercial viability and will continue to support the stakeholders involved.

In line with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda, CM Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor further explained that aside from greater private initiatives expediting the economic momentum in the property trade not to mention other spill-over effects, the industry itself is a key component in realizing the transformation agenda, partly due to proven track record in developing human resources networks and in spinning supply chains.

Part and parcel of the first phase of the Jesselton Quay mixed development project, the major components of JQC comprises two towers of 25-storey commercial suites, one tower of 25-storey i-hotel, Gallery Shoppes and a tropical-themed recreation club at the podium top, and is expected to obtain occupation certificate in the first quarter of 2022.

The lighting-up ceremony also witnessed speeches by Group Managing Director for SCHB as well as Managing Director of SBC Corporation, light performances by buskers’ extraordinaire ‘Desperado’ and dinner was prepared by SICC.
